“"Jeffrey is talented, creative, approachable, and a great facilitator. He helps one reach into what talent or skill they may have and just brings out the best. This is a rare combination.” - Ruth D., clarinet student.
WOODWIND INSTRUCTOR
Fountain Hills Piano recently expanded to include a woodwind program that offers private lessons for saxophone, clarinet and flute. The program is led by Jeffrey Anthony.
Jeffrey brings a long history of musical expertise to FHP. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree at Indiana University, where he studied with the legendary Eugene Rousseau. He then went on to receive a master's degree in saxophone performance under Joseph Wytko at Arizona State University. He also holds a Master of Sacred Music degree from Luther Seminary and is an accomplished organist and handbell player.
Jeffrey has taught band at the elementary, middle and high school levels. As a saxophonist, he has played in the historic East Room of the White House, performed with the Phoenix Symphony, and toured throughout the southwest and Mexico. As a clarinetist, he has performed with – and served as assistant director for – the Blue Ridge Clarinet Collective, a clarinet ensemble based in Blacksburg, VA. He is also an active and regular performer on the flute.
In addition to teaching privately, Jeffrey serves as director of traditional music at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church and is the soprano saxophonist with the Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet. Jeffrey is known for his calm, patient teaching style, his attention to musical detail, and his ability to bring out the best in his students.
Currently, Jeffrey is offering lessons at the FHP studio on Saturday afternoons.
